So, here we go with my Blog.
I thought for my first Blog I would encourage anyone with the odd half hour free, to volunteer to be a transcriber on the FreeBMD Project.
The FreeBMD Project aims to transcribe the Civil Registration Index for births, marriages and deaths and to provide free internet access to the transcribed records.  This is such a great project.  We all know how expensive researching our family history can be, I dread to think how much time and money I would have paid out if I hadn’t been able to turn to the FreeBMD for information.
I have just sent off my latest batch of baptism transcriptions for the year 1918.  I feel very virtuous that I am giving back to a website which has provided me with so much information over the years.  The signing on process was not without it’s hiccups, but my Syndicate Co-ordinator has held my hand every step of the way.
If you are interested in volunteering the website address is http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ just click on the “Join FreeBMD” tab and it will give you all the necessary instructions
